The Empowered Few
This RPG is set in a world mostly like our own, but with a wondrous world hidden within it. The characters begin as normal people who discover they have incredible magic abilities that hint at their true natures as powerful magic beings. Among the possibilities are divine aspects of a deity, hidden mythological creatures , a reincarnated icon of the past, a fictional person from book or legend, and many more.
Some elements of the system are especially vague to allow for creativity. This is especially true of the magical abilities of the PCs.
There are also story elements within, though of course the Narrator can pick and choose which best fits their story telling style.
Some inspirations for the game (and worth checking out) are the Xanth series of books, the novels American Gods and Neverwhere, the web-comic Skin Deep, the comic Fables, and the TV shows Grimm & Lost Girl. Though it is a bit more over the top comparatively to all of these though.
